Ingredients:
- 1 block extra firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup vegan beer such as lager or ale
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 8 small tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions:
Cut pressed tofu into small rectangles or triangles
In a bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper
Gradually whisk in beer until a smooth batter forms
Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat
Dip tofu pieces into batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place in hot oil
Fry tofu in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side
Transfer fried tofu to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil
Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave
Assemble tacos by placing crispy tofu in tortillas, topped with shredded cabbage, avocado slices, and chopped cilantro
Drizzle with vegan Baja sauce and serve with lime wedges on the side
